The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia & Herzegovina Beriz
BELKIC and the President of the Republic of Croatia Stipe
MESIC will travel directly to Bled. The President of the Federal
Republic of Germany Johannes RAU, following his official two
day visit to Slovenia will continue his stay and will already be in
Bled.
The presidents and their delegations will all be received at the
airport by representatives of the Office of the President of the
Republic of Slovenia, the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
the Slovenian Protocol Service; a guard of honour will be formed by
soldiers of the Slovenian Armed Forces.
NOTE: Journalists will be able to follow the arrivals of the
presidents at Ljubljana airport via TV monitors in the press centre in
the Festival Hall, Bled.
09.35 to 11.45 - arrival of the presidents at Grand Hotel
Toplice, Bled in the following order:

The presidents will be (individually) received by the President
of the Republic Milan Kucan - also present will be the General
Secretary of the Office of the President of the Republic Marjan
Siftarj and the Mayor of Bled Boris Malej; the presidents will be
greeted in front of the hotel by the Head of the Slovenian Protocol
Service Ksenija Benedetti and the Managing Director of Grand Hotel
Toplice Zvone Spec;

INSTRUCTIONS: accredited photo-journalists and TV camera
crew wanting to photograph or film the arrival of the presidents at
the hotel must gather in front of the Festival Hall (where the
press centre will be located) in Bled at 08.35. They will be
accompanied from this point to Hotel Toplice (access to the hotel
will not be permitted later, during the photo session).
OPERATING CONDITIONS: a special area will be reserved for
photo-journalists and TV camera crew at the hotel, which will be
marked by a rope. The area will be supplied with stands to enable
suitable operating conditions.
Journalists will be able to follow the arrival of the presidents at
Hotel Toplice via TV monitors at the press centre in the Festival
Hall, Bled.
TRANSPORT: A special bus transfer will be organised
from Ljubljana. The bus will leave Kongresni Trg at
07.00.
14.15 - in the conference hall of Grand Hotel Toplice the
President of the Slovak Republic Rudolf SCHUSTER will make a
ceremonial presentation of a mine clearing machine to the
International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victim Assistance - the
machine will be presented to the director of the International Trust
Fund Jernej Cimpersek (the other presidents will attend the
ceremony);

INSTRUCTIONS: Members of the press wanting to cover this
event must gather in front of the Festival Hall, Bled at 13.30,
from which point they will be accompanied to Hotel Toplice.
PLEASE NOTE: you are reminded that members of the press
covering events at Hotel Toplice will not be able to cover events at
Brdo castle and vice versa.
15.00 - arrival of the Presidents of Central
European States at Brdo pri Kranju and a ceremonial reception with
military honours in front of Brdo castle;

15.25 - group photograph of the Presidents of
Central European States on the terrace of Brdo castle at the symbolic
switching on of a fountain renovated in honour of the 9th Meeting of
the Presidents of the Central European States (in the case of bad
weather this will take place in the atrium of Brdo castle);

15.30 - presidential session of the Ninth Meeting
of the Presidents of Central European States on the topic of
"Central Europe as a link in an integrating Europe - Achievements
of the transformation process in Central Europe" in the Grand
Reception Room at Brdo castle; (the presidential session is scheduled
to end at 18.30);
PHOTO SESSION (FOR POOL 1)
- during the break at 17.00 there will be a PHOTO SESSION (FOR
OFFICIAL PHOTO-JOURNALISTS AND OFFICIAL TV CAMERA
CREWS)
INSTRUCTIONS: accredited photo-journalists and TV camera
crew wanting to photograph or film the arrival of the presidents, the
reception with military honours and the group photograph of the
presidents must be accompanied to the prearranged location. They must
therefore gather in front of Hotel Kokra in Brdo pri Kranju no later
than 14.00.
OPERATING CONDITIONS: at the location of the reception, in
front of Brdo castle, a special area will be reserved for
photo-journalists and TV camera crew, which will be marked by a
rope. The area will be supplied with stands to enable suitable
operating conditions. Similar arrangements will be made for the group
photograph of the presidents on the terrace of Brdo castle. Due to
limited space, only photographers, camera crew and members of the
press in Pool 1 will be able to photograph and film the start of the
presidential session. During the break there will be a photo session
for official photo-journalists and TV camera crews only.
Journalists will be able to follow events via TV monitors at the
press centre in the Festival Hall in Bled and at the press centre in
Hotel Kokra in Brdo pri Kranju.
TRANSPORT: A special bus transfer will be organised to
Brdo pri Kranju: the departure from Ljubljana (Kongresni Trg) will
be at 12.30, the departure from Bled (Festival Hall) will be at
13.00. Members of the press are kindly requested to arrive at the
departure points at least ten minutes before the scheduled
departure. Members of the press will be driven back to Bled or
Ljubljana at approximately 16.00.
18.30 (provisional timing) - briefing by
representatives of the Slovenian delegation for Slovenian journalists
at hotel Kokra in Brdo pri Kranju
TRANSPORT: A special bus transfer will be organised to Brdo
pri Kranju: the departure from Ljubljana (Kongresni Trg) will be at
17.00, the departure from Bled (Festival Hall) will also be at 17.00.
Members of the press will be transferred back to Bled or Ljubljana
at approximately 19.45.
19.55 - a brief ceremony to symbolically rename the White
Reception Room in Hotel Toplice as the Presidential Reception Room;

20.00 - gala dinner for the presidents of Central
European States in the restaurant of the Grand Hotel Toplice hosted by
the President of the Republic Milan Kucan:
- before the dinner the guests will be addressed by the President of
the Republic Milan Kucan;
- address by the guest with the second longest term in office - the
President of Austria Thomas Klestil;
- the dinner will be followed by a presentation of the "Legend
of the Sunken Bell", which will take place at Lake Bled (see
appendix 1);

INSTRUCTIONS: official photo-journalists and official TV
camera crews wanting to cover the gala dinner in Grand Hotel Toplice
must gather at 19.30 in front of the entrance to Grand Hotel
Toplice, from which point they will be accompanied to the event
location.
A direct broadcast of both presidents' addresses will be
screened in the Festival Hall in Bled.
20.30 - reception for members of the press,
organised by the Government Public Relations and Media Office and Bled
Tourist Board at the Terasa Park restaurant in Bled;
TRANSPORT: at 19.45 (provisionally) buses will transfer
members of the press from Brdo pri Kranju to the Festival Hall in
Bled.
At the end of the reception at 22.30, a bus will depart from in
front of the Festival Hall, Bled and return to Ljubljana.
Saturday 1 June 2002
09.00 - the Presidents of the Central European
States leave the Hall of Grand Hotel Toplice to walk from the lake (in
the case of bad weather a bus will be used) to the location of the
fountain to be unveiled in commemoration of the 9th meeting of the
Presidents of Central European States;
09.15 - arrival at Villa Zora - Bled's municipal building, the presidents will be
welcomed by the Mayor of Bled Boris Malej; the ceremonial unveiling of the
fountain in commemoration of the 9th meeting of the Presidents of Central
European States - created by sculptor Slavko Oblak (see appendix 2);

INSTRUCTIONS: accredited photo-journalists and TV camera
crew wanting to photograph or film the ceremonial unveiling of the
fountain must be accompanied to the location and must therefore gather
in front of the Festival Hall in Bled no later than 08.30.

special area will be reserved for photo-journalists and TV camera
crew, which will be marked by a rope.
TRANSPORT: A special bus transfer will be organised from
Ljubljana. A bus will leave from Kongresni Trg at 07.00
(the bus will depart at 9.30 from in front of the Festival Hall in
Bled and return to Ljubljana).

09.45 - arrival at Bled castle - flute
performance by Air Quartet, baroque dance performance by a Skofja Loka
dance group, panoramic view from the castle, presentation of Bled's
heritage by Prof. Janez Fajfar);

10.30 the bus will return to the Festival Hall in Bled).

11.10 - final presidential session of the 9th
Meeting of the Presidents of Central European States on the topic of

provisionally scheduled to conclude at 12.45)

INSTRUCTIONS: official photo-journalists, official TV camera
crew and members of the president from Pool 2 wanting to photograph or
film the final session must be accompanied to the location and must
therefore gather in front of Hotel Kokra in Brdo pri Kranju no
later than 10.15.
TRANSPORT: A special bus transfer will be organised to Brdo
pri Kranju: members of the press from Pool 2 must gather in front of
the Festival Hall, Bled no later than 08.50.
NOTE: Journalists will be able to follow the start of the
final session via TV monitors at the press centre in the Festival
Hall, Bled and at the press centre in Hotel Kokra in Brdo pri Kranju.
13.00 - press conference of the Presidents of
Central European States at Brdu pri Kranju (see appendix 3);
INSTRUCTIONS: accredited journalists, photo-journalists and
TV camera crew wanting to attend the press conference must gather
no later than 12.00 in front of Hotel Kokra in Brdo pri Kranju.
TRANSPORT: special bus transfers will be organised from
Ljubljana and Bled to Brdo pri Kranju: the departure from Ljubljana
(Kongresni Trg) will be at 11.00; the departure from Bled
(Festival Hall) will also be at 11.00. Members of the press are kindly
requested to arrive at the departure points at least ten minutes
before the scheduled departure.

14.00 - final luncheon and gathering of the
Presidents of Central European States and the members of their
delegations at Brdo pri Kranju;

From 15.30 onward - The President of the Republic
Milan Kucan will bid farewell to the Presidents of Central European
States (individually) at Brdo pri Kranju - they will then depart for
Ljubljana airport, Brnik;
NO PHOTO SESSION
TRANSPORT: buses are (provisionally) scheduled at 14.30 and
at 16.00 to transfer members of the press back to Bled and Ljubljana.
