Bled/Brdo pri Kranju, 31 May
Organisers of the summit of 16 Central European presidents,
taking place at Brdo pri Kranju and Bled on Friday and Saturday, have
made all the necessary preparations to help journalists covering the
event - some 200 foreign journalists and almost 100 of their Slovene
colleagues - to do their work as best as possible.
The press centre at Bled has thus been furnished with 30 computers,
as well as 30 slots for those working with laptops, while the press
centre at Brdo has been equipped with 40 computers and additional
workstations where journalists can plug in their portable
devices. Modem plugs, phones, fax machines and photocopying machines
have also been put in place.
Those working in press centres will also have live coverage of all
the events that are open to public, from the arrival of the presidents
at Brnik airport to the reception hosted by Slovene President Milan
Kucan and other happenings. The live coverage is in the hands of some
200 cameramen and technicians of the public TV network, TV Slovenija.
Many journalists have arrived in Slovenia ahead of the meeting,
while others only came on Friday together with the official
delegations of the 15 chiefs of state. To give the journalists some
relief after a hard day's work, the Government Public Relations and
Media Office and the Bled municipality will host a reception for all
media representatives on Friday evening.
